ChatGPT for School Libraries: Opportunities, Implications and Challenges
Abstract: Artificial Intelligence is steadily shaping how school libraries function and serve learners. ChatGPT is one such tool that supports faster access to information and improves daily library work. This paper discusses how AI can assist students in learning, reading, and project development. It also shows how librarians can use AI to manage tasks, create learning materials, and support classroom collaboration. The role of librarians is shifting toward digital guidance and responsible use of technology. The paper also highlights major concerns such as incorrect information, misuse by students, online safety, unequal access to technology, and lack of clear policies. These issues require careful planning and regular training. Proper guidance helps students use AI wisely and ethically. When used judiciously, AI becomes a helpful partner in strengthening library services and building confident.
