Feasibility Assessment of a Solar PV Plant in South Jaghbub, Libya: A Comparative Analysis of Floating and Ground-Mounted Systems
Ramzi A. Alabeedi, Ali F. Muftah
Abstract: Located in South Jaghbub, Libya-a region blessed with abundant solar resources-this study evaluates the feasibility of solar photovoltaic (PV) power generation through two configurations: floating and ground - mounted systems. Using the System Advisor Model (SAM), the ground - mounted design emerged as the superior option, projecting an impressive annual output of 209, 804, 384 kWh in its first year. This analysis not only underscores South Jaghbub?s potential as a prime site for solar energy but also supports Libya?s push to diversify its renewable energy mix, offering practical insights for engineers and policymakers alike.
