Evaluation of Disability and Flexibility Among Ahilyanagar Mahanagar Pallika Workers
Abstract: Introduction: Outlines the significance of non-specific low back pain in municipal workers, the importance of comprehensive disability and flexibility assessment, and the validated tools used (ODI and sit-and-reach test). It emphasizes the role of physiotherapy-led fitness assessments in occupational health management. Aims and Objectives: Clearly states the primary aim to evaluate disability and flexibility among municipal workers and lists four specific objectives focused on disability assessment, correlation analysis, demographic factor identification, and intervention recommendations. Methodology: Describes the cross-sectional observational design, purposive sampling strategy targeting 184 workers aged 18-60 years with non-specific low back pain, data collection instruments, ethical considerations, and statistical analysis procedures including descriptive statistics, normality testing, Spearman's correlation, Mann-Whitney U tests, and chi-square analyses. Results: Presents key quantitative findings including participant demographics (mean age 42.49 ? 11.6 years; 79.9% male), disability distribution (60.3% minimal, 28.3% moderate, 7.6% severe, 3.8% crippled), flexibility classification (52.7% super, 44.6% excellent, 2.7% good), the significant moderate negative correlation (r = -0.434, p < 0.001), and critical demographic associations between gender/BMI and both disability and flexibility outcomes. Discussion: Interprets findings within broader occupational health context, explaining the moderate correlation's clinical significance, the role of biomechanical factors in gender disparities, and the particularly robust relationship between elevated BMI and disability (72% of obese workers experiencing severe/crippled status versus 0% of normal-weight workers). Conclusion: Synthesizes key findings and provides evidence-based recommendations for comprehensive occupational health programs incorporating weight management, targeted interventions, and multimodal rehabilitation approaches for municipal workers.
