Mobile Banking for Gen Alpha: Examining the Rise of 24/7 Digital-First Financial Services Among the Youngest Generation
Abstract: This study investigates the growing prevalence of mobile banking among Generation Alpha, with a focus on how 24/7 digital service accessibility is transforming financial behaviors and expectations within this cohort. Employing a mixed-method research design, the paper examines both quantitative and qualitative perspectives on digital-first banking experiences, technology adoption patterns, and evolving attitudes towards financial management in early life stages. Findings highlight that security, user experience, and trust are central to encouraging adoption, while app-based interactions are shaping unique preferences and competencies among the youngest bank users. The study also explores the implications for banks seeking to remain relevant and competitive, suggesting innovations in mobile app design that address both current needs and future expectations of Generation Alpha. This research contributes to the broader understanding of generational impacts on financial technology adoption and outlines strategic pathways for the banking sector to better serve a digitally native population.
