The Fight against Poverty in Kerala through the Instrument of Public Administration and e-Governance Since 78 Years of Indian Freedom
Abstract: Kerala's journey from being a post-independence region grappling with illiteracy, caste-based inequality, and rural poverty to emerging as the world's first officially declared ?poverty-free? state by November 2025 is nothing short of extraordinary. This transformation wasn't powered by economic might, but rather by decades of disciplined public welfare, citizen-centric governance, and bold reforms grounded in equity and empowerment. It is evident that the cornerstone of Kerala's success lies in its multi-layered approach: from radical land redistribution in the 1950s, to universal primary education, accessible healthcare, and gender-inclusive schemes like Kudumbashree. That said, what truly sets this model apart is the seamless integration of technology - e-governance initiatives such as the AKSHAYA Centres and SEWAK Portal did not just digitize services, they rebuilt trust in institutions. The use of digital health platforms, vocational training, and MGNREGA ensured even the most marginalized voices weren't left behind. This suggests that Kerala's model isn't merely a story of statistics, but a living blueprint of participatory democracy, institutional accountability, and policy innovation. While challenges like youth unemployment and urban poverty remain, the roadmap ahead - rooted in digital inclusion, entrepreneurship, and data-driven monitoring - offers valuable lessons. In my opinion, Kerala's achievement stands as both a moral nudge and a strategic template for other states striving for inclusive development in an age of rising inequality.
