ESP Course Design for Computer Science Students in Morocco: Perceptions and Satisfaction from a Project-Based Learning Perspective

Dr. Abdelmajid JAMIAI

Abstract: English Language Teaching (ELT) development is due to the awareness of the quality of the process of language learning. This article deals with English for Specific Purposes (ESP) course design and the degree of satisfaction. The article is based on a case study which investigates the attitudes of computer science students, with the focus on gender differences, in lEcole Superieure de Technologie in Meknes (ESTM) in Morocco, towards the course. A mixed-method approach is adopted in the collection of data: the students questionnaire and the instructors interview. The findings of this study vary between significant and non-significant relationships among dependent and independent variables. It is also shown that students needs analysis is effective for students and teachers to design a suitable ESP course and to put students in the center of the learning operation. Moreover, Project-Based Learning (PBL) is found to be the perceived appropriate teaching/learning approach for ESP students to achieve satisfaction.
