Principles and Strategies of Classroom Management: For an Effective Learning Environment
Abstract: Classroom management refers to the effective organization of students, resources, and the learning environment to ensure safe, efficient, and productive teaching?learning processes. Effective management involves the task oriented, proactive planning and organised activities aimed at fostering the active involvement of students and an interactive classroom environment. This article discusses the goals, key characteristics, and essential principles of classroom management, emphasizing strategies such as reducing power distance, using proximity and non-verbal cues, maintaining discipline through progressive approaches, and creating a safe space for all students. The Teacher plays an active role in modelling appropriate behaviour and adopting effective strategies to improve the learning experience of the students. Successful classroom management is achieved through consistent planning, time management, adopting appropriate communication skills, structured classroom practices and positive learning environment.
