Sex steroid hormones like estrogen and progesterone have an effect on the periodontium. Oral contraceptives that contain estrogen and/or progesterone can cause gingival enlargement. This article?s purpose is to present a clinical case of oral contraceptive induced gingival enlargement managed with surgical periodontal therapy.
