Abstract: A novel, rapid, specific, and economic UV spectrophotometric method has been developed using distilled water as the solvent for the simultaneous estimation ofcefalexin (CEP) and potassiumclavulanate(PTC) content in bulk and pharmaceutical dosage formulations. The method was linear in the range of 15-75 ?g/mL of CEP and 05-25 ?g/mL for PTC. The absorbance was measured at 262nm and 212nm for cephalexin and potassium clavulanate respectively and exhibited a good correlation coefficient (R2=0.9998) for CEP and (R2=0.9979) for PTC. This method was successfully applied to the determination of cefalexin and potassium clavulanate content in bulk and pharmaceutical dosage formulations and the results were in good agreement with the label claims. The method was validated statistically and by recovery studies for linearity, accuracy, repeatability, reproducibility, and robustness. The obtained results proved that the method can be employed for the routine analysis of cefalexin and potassium clavulanate in bulks as well as in commercials.
