Alcoholic Liver Disease and Non-Alcoholic Steatohepatitis: A Comparative Study
Dr. Gajanan Surwade, Dr. Kiran Mane
ALD and NASH are significant forms of liver disease and may progress to end-stage liver disease, cirrhosis, and its attendant physiologic, metabolic, and potentially malignant complications. The most difficult aspect of establishing a diagnosis of NASH is distinguishing it from ALD. A detailed history of alcohol should be obtained from patient, family members and the primary care provider. Our study is to assess the utility of clinical and biochemical parameters to differentiate ALD from NASH.
