Interpretation of the Image of Khyzyr in the Works of Alisher Navoi

Abstract: This article isdedicated to the interpretation of the image of Khyzyr in the poetry of Alisher Navoi (1441-1501), the founder of Uzbek classic literature. The special focus is given to the genesis of the image of Khyzyr and the undying legends about him in the folklore and mythology of many Eastern nations. And the linkage between the image of Khyzyr in the works of Navoi and Islamic mythology is also investigated in this article. In the course of research the correlation between the image of Khyzyr and Quranic verses is established. The author also identifies the connection between Navois ideas about the life water (or living water) and Khyzyr.
