Leveraging Technology for Healthcare Improvement: The Barrier Tracking Tool (BTT) in Action

Lakshmi Narasimhan Srinivasagopalan

Abstract: In this day and age, health efficiency becomes the prime parameter of the solution; thus, the very exciting solution in response to this quest to identify and then manage process inefficiencies emerges - Barrier Tracking Tool, in short. With increasing operational efficiency of health care organizations, the level of processing delay had to be reduced. Hence, in a leading health insurance company, technology - based solutions were necessitated by proposing here a Barrier Tracking Tool, a software package tailored for optimizing workflow in teams through offering real - time information regarding processing bottlenecks about which managers can use this tool to identify and solve processing inefficiency issues within teams. This tool was developed with a combination of ASP. NET MVC and SQL Server technologies, allowing for the smooth tracking of data and reporting. Such a method allows for proactive decisions that make healthcare services more efficient. This research looks into the functionality of the tool and reviews the impact on workflow efficiency to bring forth the broader implications to the healthcare industry. This research has provided a foundation model for future similar projects aimed at improving operational efficiencies within regulated environments.
