Correlation and Path Coefficient Analysis in Some Varieties of Phaseolus (Phaseolus vulgaris L.)

Esraa Abd. Al-huseein Jasim, Kamal Benyamin Esho

Abstract: The experiment was carried out at vegetable research farm, horticulture and landscape design, college of agriculture and forestry, Mosul university, during growing season spring 2019, the goal of this study was to determine the correlation and path coefficient analysis in 12 genotypes of common bean, The genotypes were planting in a randomized complete block design with three replications. The results indicated highly significant (P < 0.05) difference between 12 genotypes for all traits which were plant height, number of branches per plant, green pod length, green diameter pod, pod weight, number of seeds per pod, seed length, seed diamete, weight of 1000 seeds, seeds yield per plot, seed yield per plant and total seeds kg per hectare. The result recorded higher positive significant genotypic and phenotypic correlation between the number of pods per plant and the seeds yield per plant, pod length, number of seed per pod, also the result showed that the weight of pod was higher positive significant with the number of seed per plant and pod length, the total dry weight seeds yield gave a higher correlation positive significant with the number of pod per plant, seeds yield per plant, seeds weight per plant and the number of seeds per pod. In the other side there was a positive path coefficient analysis within the total seed yield per donum and number of pods per plant, seeds weight per plant, 1000 seeds weight, and number of seeds per pod, while the result recorded a positive path coefficient analysis among total seeds yield per donum among green diameter pod, pod weight, seed diameter, weight of 1000 seeds and seeds yield per pod, and indirect effects trough number of pods per plant and number of seeds per pod
