Emergence of Political Consciousness in Kashmir during the Dogra Period (1846-1947)

Abstract: In this paper researchers try to find out the factors responsible for the emergence of political consciousness in Kashmir during the period under study. we will try to find out what was the impact of Indian national movement on the freedom struggle of Kashmir. we will try to find out the what was the impact of various factors upon the masses of Kashmir. In this paper researchers try to explain the role of Treaty of Amritsar and others factors as well. The effect of Treaty of Amritsar will be discussed in detail. The sale-deed might have prompted the Dogras to oppress the Kashmiri masses to unbearable extent so that they could regain the money spent in the shortest possible time. The vulnerability of the people might have made this exploitation easy for the Dogras.
