Resolution of Carbuncle with Individualized Homoeopathy: A Clinical Case Study

Abstract: A carbuncle is an exquisitely tender, suppurative nodule that commonly occurs on the neck, shoulders, or hips and is often associated with marked constitutional symptoms. In modern medical practice, bacterial swabs are taken for culture, and appropriate antibiotic therapy is initiated.[1] Homoeopathy offers a range of remedies that are selected on an individualized basis. A 63-year-old male patient presented with a chronic eruption on the dorsum of the left leg near the little toe, persisting for 4?5 months. The lesion was initially asymptomatic, with no itching or pain, though the patient reported a mild burning sensation that had developed over the preceding 10 days. After a thorough case evaluation, Hepar Sulphuris Calcareum 200C was prescribed. Within two months, marked clinical improvement was observed, and the eruption completely resolved. During a subsequent follow-up period of four years, no recurrence of the skin lesion was noted. This case demonstrates a favourable outcome following individualized homoeopathic treatment. However, definitive conclusions regarding the efficacy of homoeopathic medicines in the management of carbuncles cannot be drawn from a single case report.
