Green Synthesis of Manganese Oxide Nanoparticles Mediated by Butea Monosperma Pod Extract: Characterization and Antibacterial Screening
Abstract: This study reports a completely green, eco-friendly, and cost-effective method for synthesizing manganese oxide (MnO) nanoparticles using the aqueous pod extract of Butea monosperma as a natural reducing and stabilizing agent. The phytoconstituents within the pod extract successfully mediated the reduction of manganese precursors, eliminating the need for toxic chemical reagents. The synthesized MnO nanoparticles were comprehensively characterized using UV-Visible, FTIR and XRD, confirming the formation of stable nanoparticles. Furthermore, MnO nanoparticles were screen for antibacterial activity via the agar well diffusion method against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacterial pathogens. These findings highlight the potential of Butea monosperma as an excellent bio-resource for nanotechnology, positioning the resulting (MnO) nanoparticles as promising candidates for biomedical applications.
