Comparison of the Effectiveness of Mckenzie Exercise versus Pilates Exercise for Neck Pain among Jewellery Designers
Abstract: Background: Jewellery designers may develop mechanical neck pain because of prolonged static posture and repetitive occupational activity. This study compared McKenzie and Pilates exercise programs in jewellery designers with chronic mechanical neck pain. Methods: Thirty participants were allocated to two groups of 15. Both groups received TENS, followed by either McKenzie exercises or Pilates exercises for four weeks. Pain, functional status, and cervical range of motion were assessed before and after treatment. Results: Both groups demonstrated improvement after intervention. Greater improvements were reported for the McKenzie group in several outcomes, including pain, functional status, flexion, rotation, and lateral flexion, whereas extension improvement was greater in the Pilates group.
