Saiva Samayam
Abstract: For generations, wise and learned people have drawn upon the knowledge gained through practical experience and education to formulate valuable principles of life, guiding people around the world toward a higher and more noble state of living. In different parts of the world, people have shaped their lives by following the teachings and principles of respected spiritual figures. These principles that people adopt and follow throughout their lives may be understood as religion. It can also be observed that people worship as gods those revered figures who established such principles for their way of life. In this manner, different religions emerged at different times and in various parts of the world. Some of them have endured through the ages and continue to be followed even today. Hinduism, Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, and Jainism may be cited as examples. Within Hinduism, Saivism and Vaishnavism are two major traditions that continue to be followed by people today.
