Financial Risk Management in the Era of Global Economic Uncertainty: Challenges, Strategies, and Implications for Corporate Sustainability
Abstract: The increasing frequency of global economic disruptions- including geopolitical conflicts, inflationary pressures, supply chain disruptions, climate-related risks, rapid technological change, and financial market volatility- has intensified the importance of financial risk management (FRM). Organizations must adopt proactive and integrated risk management frameworks to safeguard financial stability, ensure business continuity, and enhance long-term value creation. This review article examines the evolving landscape of financial risk management in the context of global economic uncertainty. It discusses major categories of financial risk, theoretical foundations, risk management techniques, technological innovations, and empirical evidence linking effective risk management with corporate financial performance. The review concludes that organizations with robust enterprise-wide risk management systems are better positioned to withstand economic shocks, improve profitability, and achieve sustainable growth.
