Practices of Archiving and Sharing the Scholarly Literature by the Indian Research Community

Dr. Rangaswamy, Dr. Rajendra Babu H

Abstract: This study examines self-archiving practices among the Indian research community. The survey method was adapted, and a specifically designed questionnaire was used to achieve the study objectives. The study population included those who had published research papers in Scopus-indexed journals established by the NIScPR, IAS, ICAR, DRDO, and ICMR. The findings show that the majority of the researchers were aware of the self-archiving concept as a means for providing open access, but not many of them had practical experience in self-archiving, which was found to be statistically significant with Tukey's (HSD) test. Lack of institutional repositories, publishers' copyrights, and lack of researcher interest which means they do not know the benefits of self-archiving and open access were the major reasons for not employing scholarly literature archiving. Among the respondents, the majority used ASNS for sharing scholarly literature, and most of them had profiles on ResearchGate, Academia, Google Scholar, ORCID ID, and Mendeley.
