An Unusual Neuralgia-Like Pain Disorder Initially Presenting as Dentinal Hypersensitivity During Pregnancy: A Diagnostic Challenge
Abstract: Dentinal hypersensitivity is generally characterized by short-lasting pain that resolves following removal of the provoking stimulus and responds to conventional management. Progression of sensitivity-like symptoms into continuous neuralgia-like pain is unusual and may create substantial diagnostic uncertainty. The challenge becomes greater during pregnancy, when physiological and hormonal changes may influence pain perception and treatment options. This report describes an atypical pain presentation that evolved from apparent dentinal hypersensitivity into persistent neuralgia-like pain of uncertain origin.
