A Holistic Synthesis of Aging: Integrating Patanjali Yoga, WHO Perspectives, and Telomere Biology through the Lens of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam
Abstract: Aging is a complex, multidimensional, and universal phenomenon that has historically been approached through fragmented disciplinary lenses-ranging from modern molecular biology to ancient spiritual traditions, and global public health frameworks. This paper presents a pure synthesis of human aging by integrating the molecular marker of telomere biology, the global public health perspective of the World Health Organization (WHO), and the psycho-physiological science of Patanjali Yoga. Framing this integration through the ancient Indian philosophy of 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam' (the world is one family), this paper avoids the supremacy of any single paradigm over another. Instead, it proposes a non-hierarchical, complementary model where Eastern wisdom and Western empirical science coalesce. This unified perspective conceptualizes aging not merely as cellular decline or a public health burden, but as a holistic trajectory of human development requiring inner equilibrium and global environmental support. A formal Risk of Bias assessment regarding the synthesis of such diverse epistemologies is also discussed.
