Nutrition as a Missing Link in Childhood TB
Abstract: Undernutrition is among the best-established risk factors for a child's progression from TB infection to active disease- a relationship well documented in the clinical literature and acknowledged in national guidelines. Yet India's nutrition and TB programmes run through separate administrative verticals, separate registers, separate frontline cadres, and separate review structures that rarely intersect at the level of one child. This review looks at what that separation actually costs in practice and makes a low-cost case for cross-referral at the points where the two systems already, almost by accident, touch the same households.
