The Phenomenon of Semantic Field Transfer of the Human Field in Nguyen Duy's Luc Bat Poetry
Abstract: This study investigates semantic field transfer in 135 luc bat poems by Nguyen Duy, focusing on the transfer of lexical items from the human semantic field to the semantic fields of plants, objects, animals, time, and natural phenomena. Using Do Huu Chau's theory of lexical semantics, the study qualitatively analyzes how these transfers operate through metaphor, personification, and other rhetorical devices. The findings show that temporary semantic field transfer is the dominant mechanism, enriching poetic imagery, strengthening expressive meaning, and contributing significantly to Nguyen Duy's distinctive poetic style. The study also demonstrates the value of semantic field analysis for literary interpretation and the teaching of Vietnamese poetry.
