Estimation of the Population Mean in the Presence of Non-Response and Measurement Errors
Abstract: To improve the efficiency of the estimators of population mean, auxiliary information is widely used in literature at the estimation stage. This paper proposes a new class of estimator designed for situations where non-response and measurement error are present, affecting both the study variable and the auxiliary variables. The expressions for the bias and the mean square error (MSE) of this proposed class of estimator are derived, considering the simultaneous occurrence of non-response and response errors, up to the first order of approximation. It was demonstrated that the proposed class of estimators offers superior efficiency compared to traditional methods. when non-response and response errors are present together. To validate these theoretical findings and provide practical insights into its performance, a comprehensive numerical study and simulation study was conducted on real and artificial populations.
