The Effectiveness of Self-Instructional Module on Knowledge of Staff Nurse regarding Cryotherapy for Relieving Pain of Arteriovenous Fistula in Hemodialysis Patients in Selected Hospitals at Bangalore
Abstract: Background: The pain during arteriovenous canulation is remain a common problem in haemodialysis patient. Patient undergoing haemodialysis are frequently exposed to pain from approximately 300 puncture per year to their AV site. Methods: A pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design was used. Data were collected using a structured knowledge questionnaire. The pre-test mean score was 19.83, and the post-test mean score was 34.63, with a mean difference of 14.8. The paired t-test value (t = 1.96) indicated statistical significance. Results: The SIM significantly improved the knowledge of staff nurse regarding cryotherapy for relieving pain of AV Fistula in haemodialysis patient. Conclusion: SIM is effective in improving the knowledge of staff nurse regarding effectiveness of cryotherapy for relieving pain of AV Fistula in haemodialysis patient.
