Environmental Law and Plastic Pollution in Faridkot, Punjab, India
Abstract: Plastic pollution has emerged as a critical environmental challenge globally, and the city of Faridkot in Punjab, India, is no exception. This research paper aims to explore the interplay between environmental law and the escalating issue of plastic pollution within Faridkot. It will examine the existing legal framework at the national and state levels relevant to plastic waste management and assess its implementation and effectiveness in addressing the specific challenges faced by Faridkot. Furthermore, the paper will investigate the sources and impacts of plastic pollution in the city, analyse the role of various stakeholders, and identify potential gaps and opportunities for strengthening legal and practical measures to mitigate this environmental crisis. By examining the local context through the lens of environmental law, this paper seeks to contribute to a more refined understanding of the problem and inform strategies for a sustainable future for Faridkot.
