Artificial Intelligence, Computer Viruses, and Data Protection in Web-Based Learning Environments
Abstract: Web-based learning environments has transformed teaching, learning, assessment, and information sharing in higher education. Artificial Intelligence (AI) supports personalized learning, automated assessment, intelligent tutoring, and educational data analysis. At the same time, the increasing dependence on digital platforms creates cybersecurity challenges, including computer viruses, malicious software, unauthorized access, data breaches, identity theft, and misuse of personal information. Students, teachers, librarians, researchers, and educational administrators increasingly depend on learning management systems, cloud-based resources, digital libraries, and online assessment platforms. Protecting these systems and the information they contain has therefore become an important responsibility for educational institutions. artificial intelligence, computer viruses, and data protection in web-based learning environments. It discusses the potential of AI to improve cybersecurity monitoring, identify suspicious activities, detect unusual access patterns, and support the protection of educational information. It also considers the risks associated with AI-enabled attacks, inaccurate automated decisions, privacy violations, and excessive collection of student data. The paper adopts a descriptive and analytical approach based on a review of relevant literature, cybersecurity frameworks, and data-protection principles. It proposes an integrated approach involving secure system design, regular software updates, access control, encryption, user awareness, responsible AI governance, and institutional cybersecurity policies. The paper concludes that secure and ethical digital education requires cooperation among technology providers, educational institutions, teachers, librarians, students, and policymakers.
