Synchronous Physical Inventory Execution with RF Technology in Embedded SAP EWM on SAP S/4HANA: A Structured Approach for Inventory Accuracy and Warehouse Efficiency
Abstract: Accuracy in inventory is one of the most important factors for success in modern warehouse management. Companies that run complex supply chains need reliable methods for comparing the actual stock with the records in the system, at the same time keeping operational disruption to a minimum. The SAP Extended Warehouse Management (EWM) module, which is part of SAP S/4HANA, includes an integrated Physical Inventory (PI) framework that enables real-time counting, the analysis of discrepancies, and inventory adjustments using Radio Frequency (RF) devices. This paper outlines a well-structured physical inventory process that makes use of PI documents, warehouse orders, the execution based on RF devices, recount procedures, and the integration of difference postings between SAP EWM and SAP S/4HANA. The study examines the main stages of the process, the system controls, tolerance management, and the way inventory adjustment postings are made using movement types 711 and 712. The results show that standardized SAP EWM inventory procedures lead to improved inventory accuracy, greater operational efficiency, and better warehouse governance.
