Paper 3: Executing Large Investments: A Step-by-Step Guide to Project Delivery and Oversight- Managing the Full Lifecycle of Strategic Expenditures
Abstract: This paper is the final paper in a three-part series on Investment Management in SAP, focusing on the execution and settlement phases of investment projects. It provides a step-by-step guide to implementing projects based on customizations and processes outlined in the previous papers. The document details the complete lifecycle-from defining investment program structures, initiating appropriation requests, building the project system hierarchy, and planning costs and budgets, to the actual execution and financial settlement of capital projects. Special emphasis is placed on managing costs at the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) level, integrating Assets Under Construction (AUC), and final settlements to fixed assets or other cost objects. This comprehensive approach ensures projects are not only delivered on time and within budget but also aligned with financial reporting and asset capitalization standards.
