Technology Upgradation Trends among Karnataka MSMEs: A Secondary Data Analysis
Abstract: This research paper conducts a comprehensive secondary data analysis of technology upgradation trends among Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Karnataka from 2020-2025. Drawing exclusively from government reports, industrial policies, academic studies, and budgetary documents, the study evaluates adoption patterns, policy impacts, sectoral variations, and barriers. Key findings reveal accelerated upgradation driven by schemes like Credit Linked Capital Subsidy Scheme (CLCSS) and Karnataka Industrial Policy 2025-30, with sectors like textiles and manufacturing leading gains in productivity (20-25% uptake). Challenges include digital literacy gaps in North Karnataka and infrastructural deficits. Descriptive trends, thematic synthesis, and comparative analysis highlight the need for targeted interventions to sustain competitiveness toward Karnataka's $1 trillion GDP goal.
Keywords: Upgradation of technology, MSMEs, government policies, financial incentives promoting MSME technology
