Green Economy and Sustainable Development in India-Challenges and Opportunities

Abstract: India is one of the worlds growing economies faces significant challenges in balancing economic development with enviornmental sustainability. This paper exlores the concept of green economy and its implications for sustainable development in India. It examines the current state of Indian economy; analyzesthe key challenges related to enviornmental degradation, resource depletion and climate change and discuss the potential benefits of transitioning to a green economy. This paper also evaluates various policies, initiatives and stratergies adopted by the Indian Government and other stakeholders to pramote sustainable development including renewable energy investment, enviornmental regulations and green technology innovations. Finally it identifies opportunities for further integration of green principles in to Indias economic development agenda and suggest recommendations for policy makers, businesses and sivil society to accelerate the transition towords a more sustainable and inclusive economy.
