Understanding Maternal Mortality in Kapiri Mposhi District, Zambia?s Health System
Abstract: This study explores the factors contributing to maternal mortality in Kapiri Mposhi District, Zambia, focusing on the role of health personnel shortages, delayed referrals, and pregnancy complications. Both qualitative and quantitative methods were employed, analyzed using Statistical Packages for Social Sciences (SPSS). The study highlights the insufficient training in Basic Emergency Obstetric and Neonatal Care among some health personnel as a cause and recommends increased staff recruitment, retraining in basic emergency care, and community sensitization for safe motherhood initiatives.
