Importance and Role of Socioeconomic Survey in Forestry Sector in India
Abstract: Socioeconomic surveys play a crucial role in understanding the complex relationship between forests and communities in India. This article explores the significance of socioeconomic surveys in the context of forestry in India, highlighting their contributions to policy-making, sustainable resource management, and individual & community development. By collecting data on various socioeconomic indicators such as income levels, employment patterns, education, health, and access to basic amenities, socioeconomic surveys help identify the challenges faced by forest-dependent communities. This information aids in designing targeted interventions to address poverty, improve livelihood opportunities, and enhance the overall socio-economic conditions of these communities.
