Abstract: A Prospective, randomized study, Group T patients received inj. Tramadol 0.5mg/kg diluted in 100ml normal saline & Group D received inj. Dexmedetomidine 0.5?g/kg diluted in 100ml normal saline, both drugs were infused over a time period of 5mins before giving spinal anaesthesia. Result: The mean shivering score in Group D was 0.4?.21 at T0 interval, the mean shivering score in Group T was 0.13? 0.34 at T0 interval. After 2hrs the shivering score was 0.02?0.15 in Group D & 0.11?0.32 in Group T. Conclusion: Both drugs dexmedetomidine & tramadol were effective in preventing shivering after spinal anaesthesia.
