Abstract: BACKGROUND Plasma uric acid has been shown to be associated with an increased risk of hypertension, cardiovascular disease,. chronic kidney disease, insulin resistance and metabolic syndrome. However the putative association between serum uric acid level and diabetes mellitus is not clear. This study aimed to investigate the plasma uric acid levels in patients with Type 2 DM and patients with IGT in comparison with normal subjects Methodology This is a case control study conducted in M. B. S. Hospital over a period of years2012-13.
