A Novel Mitigation Technique for PAPR in Mimo-OFDMA Using RBWA
Abstract: A new peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) reduction approach for MIMO-OFDM/A is developed based on the well known Resource block weight algorithm (RBWA). This combines two ideas 1) time domain signals from resource blocks (consisting of several subcarriers) may be linearly combined using precoding weights, transparent to the receiver, 2) the precoding weights can be designed to minimize the modulus variations of the resulting signal, leading generally to a reduction in PAPR. This technique is compatible with various beam forming modes in single antenna and MIMO systems. Simulation results show a noticeable improvement relative to the Selective mapping (SLM) technique with significantly less complexity.
