Effect of a Progressive Functional Exercise Program on Pain and Functional Performance in a Patient with Knee Osteoarthritis
Abstract: Background: Knee osteoarthritis causes pain, weakness and functional limitations. Case presentation: A 52-year-old female with osteoarthritis of the left knee and a Baker?s cyst presented with pain and difficulty in walking and climbing stairs. Objectives: To evaluate the effect of progressive functional exercises on pain and functional performance. Intervention: 4-week progressive exercise program including strengthening, stretching, range of motion, balance and functional training. Result: Pain, strength, ROM, TUG and WOMAC scores improved. Conclusion: Progressive exercises improved pain and functional performance in KOA.
