Silhouettes and Silent Resistance: A Postdramatic and Feminist Reading of Lulu Raczka's a Girl in School Uniform (Walks into a Bar)

Hala Muhammed Ali Ashoor

Abstract: This article critically examines Lulu Raczka's A Girl in School Uniform (Walks Into a Bar) through the lens of Hans-Thies Lehmann's postdramatic theatre theory and feminist performance criticism. It analyses the play's structural fragmentation, character instability, and thematic silence to explore how theatrical form embodies gendered violence. By investigating dialogue patterns, scenic composition, and narrative repetition, the study reveals how the play challenges traditional dramatic conventions to reflect systemic indifference toward women?s disappearance. It contends that Raczka's dramaturgical strategies resist spectacle, reinforcing silence and disorientation as tools for political critique.

Keywords: Feminist performance, Gender disappearance, Postdramatic theatre, Raczka
