Study of FNAC of Clinicallly Palable Thyroid Swelling with Histopathological Correlation
Abstract: Thyroid swellings are among the most common clinical presentations encountered in surgical practice. Accurate preoperative evaluation is essential to distinguish benign from malignant lesions and to plan appropriate management. Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology (FNAC) is a reliable, minimally invasive, and cost - effective diagnostic tool used as a first - line investigation in the evaluation of thyroid swellings. However, FNAC has limitations, including non - diagnostic or indeterminate results, necessitating histopathological correlation for definitive diagnosis. This study aims to assess the diagnostic accuracy of FNAC by comparing it with histopathological examination (HPE) findings in patients with clinically palpable thyroid swellings.
