Comparison of Safety and Efficacy of Silodosin and Solifenacin vs Placebo in the Treatment of Double J Stent Related Lower Urinary System Symptoms: A Prospective Observational Study

Abstract: Introduction: DJ stent related symptoms are frequency, urgency, sexual dysfunction, dysuria, flank pain, incomplete emptying, suprapubic pain, hematuria & reduced quality of life. Pharmacological treatment is simplest & non invasive option to minimize these symptoms. Aims & Objectives: To study efficacy of silodosin & solifenacin combination to treat dj stent related lower urinary tract symptoms. To compare various lower urinary tract symptoms following administration of silodosin & solifenacin in patient with dj stent. Materials & methods: 300 cases at DY Patil Medical College are included in this study. Data is entered in predesigned detailed ureteral stent symptom questionnaire. Observation & Results: Of 300 cases, 193 were males, 107 were females.150 cases had frequency, nocturia, urgency.142 had hematuria, 268 cases had inguinal pain, 231 had suprapubic pain, 230 had sleeping difficulty, 53 had sexual abstinence. USSQ score was similar in test & control group at Ist week. USSQ was significantly decreased at 3rd week in test group after silodosin & solifenacin administration. Conclusion: combination therapy with silodosin & solifenacin is effective for relieving stent related symptoms with improved quality of life
