Clinical, Radiological and Pathological Evaluation of Residual Disease in Patients Receiving Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy for Locally Advanced Carcinoma Breast

Abstract: Carcinoma breast is the commonest malignancy among women globally. Epidemiological studies have shown that the global burden of breast cancer is expected to cross 2 million by the year 2030. In India, from being fourth in the list of most common cancers during the 1990s, it has now become the first.Locally advanced breast cancer (LABC) defined as bulky primary tumor with T3, T4 tumorand N2/N3 disease. Neoadjuvant chemotherapy is the first-line treatment to downgrade these tumors. The response can be assessed by various methods like clinical examination and by means of various radiological techniques. The objective of this study is to determine the residual disease among locally advanced carcinoma breast after neoadjuvant chemotherapy, clinically, radiologically and pathologically.
