Local Wisdom as a Planning Strategy and Sustainable Settlement Development in to Kaili Traditional Central Sulawesi

Abstract: The Kaili tribe is one of the tribes that live on the island of Sulawesi, Central Sulawesi province and has unique local wisdom and needs to be further studied by researchers. Plan and design settlements that have local wisdom since ancient times, and are currently experiencing degradation. The process of planning and designing refers to their customary law. This study aims to uncover the stages of planning and designing a sustainable settlement development that is harmonious and local wisdom The phenomenological approach method is used to analyze the behavior of To Kaili to find a harmonious planning and design strategy. The findings are variations or patterns of housing development from micro to macro scale which show the metamorphosis of settlements that depend on customary rules.
