Effectiveness of Circuit Resistance Training Versus Progressive Resistance Exercises on Shoulder Pain among Paraplegic Patients
Abstract: 91 % of the studied paraplegic wheelchair users suffered from chronic shoulder pain. This pain is due to the overuse of joint in day to day activities. Pain will limit the function and it affects the daily living activities of the patient. Resistance training programmes will effectively increase muscle strength and upper limb functionality, by decreasing shoulder pain. AIMS AND OBJECTIVES: To compare the effectiveness of circuit resistance training versus progressive resistance exercises in reducing shoulder pain and improving upper extremity function and strength among paraplegic patients. METHODOLOGY: 30 paraplegic wheelchair users were selected on the basis of inclusion and exclusion criteria, and divided equally into two groups, Group A and Group B. Each group consists of 15 subjects. Group A received CRT and Group B received PRE, 1 hour a day 3 times /week for 8 weeks.
