Abstract: Nursing Management for Necrotizing fasciitis (flesh-eating disease) Mrs. Ravneet Principal Jhulka College of Nursing & Health Sciences, Qadian B. Sc (N) M. Sc (MCH) Bacteria are fascinating organisms. They are all around us and many bacteria are helpful to us. Bacteria aid in food digestion, nutrient absorption, vitamin production, and protect against other harmful microbes. Conversely, a number of diseases that impact humans are caused by bacteria. Every year, between 600 and 700 cases are diagnosed in the U. S. About 25 % to 30 % of those cases result in death. It rarely occurs in children. Necrotising fasciitis is a rare but potentially fatal condition with reported mortality up to 76 %Vibrio vulnificus is a rare cause of necrotising fasciitis; however, the disease is one of the major manifestations of the bacteria. Here, we report one such case in a middle-aged male patient. He presented with the signs of bilateral lower limb cellulites and altered sensorium. V. vulnificus was isolated from blood culture and also from debrided tissue. Though the organism is well characterised, it is a rare causative agent of necrotising fasciitis.
