70 Years of Undiagnosed Acromegaly & Treatment with Cabergoline
Abstract: Acromegaly is a rare disorder with in incidence of 3-4 cases per million per year worldwide. It is caused by excessive growth hormone (GH) secretion, usually resulting from a benign GH-secreting pituitary adenoma. We report a case of a 72 year old man with an undiagnosed disorder since past 30 years presenting with irreversible cutaneous and systemic manifestations. We treated the patient with cabergoline instead to somatotropin analogues but the therapy over the time did lower his growth hormone levels improving his quality of life.
