Abstract: Mudariswati Daimis, 2018. Development of Teaching Materials for Reading Skills in Thematic Learning Using the VAK Model in Class 1 Elementary School. Postgraduate Thesis of Padang State University. This research is motivated by the results of the analysis of teacher books and student books in Class 1 Elementary School (SD), encountered several problems including the analysis of the suitability of subject matter with KD, indicators and objectives of learning in teacher books, and the breadth and accuracy of the material contained in the book students. Therefore, the teacher must be able to develop thematic teaching materials as a means to assist the learning process that can maximize student-centered learning, provide direct experience to students, and learning outcomes can develop according to the interests and needs of students. The goal to be achieved in developing this teaching material is to produce valid, practical, and effective thematic teaching materials. This type of research is development research. This research uses the ADDIE model which consists of five stages, namely: analysis (analyze), design (development), development (implementation), implementation (evaluation), and evaluation (evaluation). The research data from the validity test is obtained through the validity sheet of teaching materials. Practical data is obtained through the RPP implementation sheet, assessment of teacher responses. Effectiveness seen from student activities, process assessment and outcome assessment. Based on the validity test obtained data that the average percentage of teaching materials from the validator is 79 % with a valid category. The practicality test results from the implementation of lesson plans were obtained 81 % with very valid categories. Assessment of teacher responses was 82 %. The effectiveness of teaching materials is seen from the activities of students, obtained an average percentage of 83 % with a very active category. From the daily assessment conducted, it can be seen that student learning outcomes tend to increase. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the teaching materials of loud reading skills in Thematic Learning by using the VAK model in class 1 of the Elementary School developed can be declared valid, practical and efficient.
