The Impact of Emotional Intelligence on Organizational Citizenship Behavior of Staff Employees at ABC (Pvt.) Ltd, Sri Lanka

Abstract: Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB) is one of the most important factors which affect the success of any organization. Success or failure of an organization heavily depends on the behavior of the employees. According to the pilot survey, the researcher identified that staff employees of ABC (Pvt. ) Limited have a lower level of OCB. By reviewing the literature, the researcher identified that Emotional Intelligence (EI) is one of the most important factors which impacts on OCB. This study aims to find out whether EI, Self-Awareness and Relationship Management positively impacts on OCB together to find out the impact of Self-Management and Social-Awareness on OCB. Population of the study was 95 staff level employees. Data were collected through census method by using a self-administrative questionnaire. A simple regression analysis was applied to find out the positive impact of EI on OCB while a multiple regression analysis was applied to find out the positive impact of Self-Awareness and Relationship Management and the impact of Self-Management and Social-Awareness on OCB. Results indicate that the EI, Self-Awareness and Relationship Management positively impacts on OCB while there were no impact of Self-Management and Social-Awareness on OCB.
