Frequency and percentage were used to analyze the close-ended questionnaire where as qualitative data analysis was used to analyze the interview. The result of this study showed that most of the students had positive perception about vocabulary learning. The result of the study also showed the following order from the most to the least frequently used vocabulary learning strategies by first year English major students of Adigrat University Determination Strategies, Social Strategies, Memory Strategies, Meta cognitive Strategies, and Cognitive strategies. This indicates that Determination Strategies and Cognitive strategies respectively were the most and the least frequently used vocabulary learning strategies by English major students of Adigrat University.
