Epidemiological Study on the Oral State in Pregnant Women
Abstract: Introduction Pregnancy plays a preponderant role in the development of oral and dental pathologies by the action of steroid sex hormones on the different systems of the maternal organism and in particular the immune, vascular and secretory systems, as well as on the gingival flora. and oral. Objective Our goal was to compare oral status in pregnant versus non-pregnant women to determine whether or not there is a relationship between hormonal disruption during pregnancy and increased incidence of oral disease. Material and methods We conducted an epidemiological survey. This investigation took place in the gynecology department of the military hospital of Tunis.
